Network services are not only restricted to company networks - there is also a strong demand within home networks, because digital equipment and multimedia hardware (MP3, DVD, digital cameras) offers a broad range of digital data which must also be stored centralized.
Within next years a mediaserver or network attached storage (NAS) will be a standard to store and administrate photos, movies and music files. Today this task will be done by dedicated computers within the living rooms or home offices. But in opposite to company networks these servers doesn`t run 24x7 it will be used on demand only.
So network shares are not available any time. Xi!Swatch supports you with his failover concept and control functions to handle this task.
Mobile equipment such as laptops and notebooks have also new demands: If changing environments very often you must also change your network connections and shares as needed. If drive X: represents your centralized document share within your company, this drive letter may be reserved for your video collection at home.
Your Windows operating system can`t handle this and it is not possible to map the same drive letter with different shares. This task will be done in the future by Xi!Swatch which supports this feature by active monitoring and automatic drive mapping.
Within your company Xi!Swatch will monitor connections for your servers and workstations sending you a message if an event occured recovering an alternate connection which doesn`t interrupt your business. |
